Grandma Rose, Rest in Peace

Turner, Rose Alma

Rose Alma Turner passed away in peace and comfort on January 18, 2008 at her home in Yelm, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 77. Rose was born to Oscar and Mary (Brown) Wollin in Wenat- chee on February 10, 1930. She grew up there and later moved to North Dakota to raise her own family of six children. Rose loved to bowl at the Yelm Prairie Lanes. She also loved animals, especially cats and dogs. She always fed the hungry strays that wondered around her home. Flowers lit up her life and eyes; all types and all colors were her favorite. Rose always looked forward to trips to her home in North Dakota to visit her children. While there, she'd also take part in pow-wows. Rose also liked to go fishing, whether in Washington or North Dakota. Church was very important and a source of strength to Rose. She was very involved in church activities and often volunteered at the Yelm Senior Center. Rose is survived by her children, Melisa Lenoir (John L. Sullivan), and Rose (Ron) Bellanger, of Minnesota; Pam Pfeiffer (Lon Russell), and Calvin Lenoir (Beverly Houle) of North Dakota; and Carol (George) Fulford of Virginia; sister, Mary Goff of Montana; eight grandchildren; two adopted grandchildren; five great- granddaughters; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Chuck and Shirley Blannford, Sue Taylor, Virginia Hatcher, and many others. Rose is preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 2004; daughter, Melinda; and both parents. Arrangements are under the direction of Mills & Mills Funeral Home in Tumwater. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at at the Yelm Prairie Christian Center at 501 103rd Avenue NE in Yelm.
