My new Chair

Thank you Lazyboy for making a Girly mommy chair. This is my new chair. It Swivels and rocks. I can turn it to talk to Bill instead of pretending I can see him. Rather like talking to the person behind you on the Bus or Plane. Lol. Finally, I can turn around.

Happy 33rd wedding Anniversary to US

3 days before New Years eve, Bill asked me again what happened to that Idea about maybe getting married. We'd talked about it shortly 6 mo before when I thought I was Pregnant. I said,"I don't know?" and He said, "Well, you still wanna?" Lol..how romantic is that!! So, we got a licence and 3 days later (New Years Eve) he called his mother ..who hated me (I was a retired exotic dancer..slut..maybe hooker..good grief)..to ask if she could arrange a wedding for us. She, pretty much, screamed "NO!!" and hung up.

Sidebar: When we first met she didn't want me in the house. Bill said fine then you don't want me either. Being the Favorite son, she relented 2 weeks later and invited us both down for the day.

So, her attitude didn't surprise us. What did surprise us was that she called back in 2 hours to say that all was arranged and that we should come down to her house..lol.
We grabbed our friends Ron and Ginger and headed down. Me in a Forest Green dress and Bill in the only Suit he has ever owned. His mother had arranged for us to be married in a "CHURCH"..good grief!! When filling out the forms, the Pastor nearly refused to marry us because we had the same Address! For SHAME! But, it was late and we'd come a long way.. yatta yatta. SO, we got married 11pm New Years Eve. His parents and our 2 friends and my son Jerico ( Who refused to come into the Sanctuary because," GOD would strike him dead for all his lies."He was 5..lol) .
Afterwards we all went dancing at the Algiers nightclub. Jerico must have gone to a sitter..ya know..I don't remember..mmm. Anyway, we drank and danced(yes Bill danced) then went to his moms for "the reception". 5 min after we left the Algiers it burned down..no lie..I swear. Never to be rebuilt!! The Reception was nice. She'd gone to the grocery store for a lovely cake. It said "Happy Bar Mitzvah Burney"...we scrapped it off..lol. Bill and I cut the cake and she sprayed us with silly string. Honest ..I have pictures. Lol!! It was 1973..and by those years standards it was still pretty strange!
We drove home after.. I threw up on the tree being totally drunk on my ass..I went to bed and he fell asleep on the couch. So Romantic!! BUT, we are still together!
The sleeping fairy at the top of this story was my present for my sweet Hubby. He tells me I get to pick out a new recliner today also!! I let him buy that black barca lounger for HIM..I didn't know he intended it for me! My feet don't reach the floor and hence its very uncomfortable for me. Hee hee.

Misc. Pictures from Christmas time

Our Christmas Tree and Presents before the distruction errrr, present opening. Yup.. corner of MY living room by the computer. Hee hee!

A neighbors house (up around the corner) that got hit with 2 trees (from his own yard). He was the last to get power back in our neighborhood because the trees were on the powerlines/phone cables. Bill went down and cut some of it away and the city got the rest of it. What a mess!! I hear the owner was standing in that doorway just seconds before the trees fell.

Christmas Eve

We did present opening on Christmas eve. You never realize how quiet your life is till the grandkids leave. It was deafening.
Bryce (5mo) was all bright eyes and giggles. What a happy baby. I had so much fun holding him.
Trysten(5) has grown a foot since I saw him at Thanksgiving! How is that possible. He looks like a KID..not a toddler anymore. He loved his presents but seems to really like Bryce's lil plastic hammer that lights up and makes a funny noise when you hit things. Like Gramma's and Jerico's HEAD!! Never laughed so hard!
Jayda(3) got more things then a lil girl could ever use. I missed seeing Eryka(11). Her Dad seems to think its ok to steal her away every Christmas. I find it horribly annoying!! I don't even get to see her open her presents. Makes me sad.
All my boys were here. Marshall got me a back lite keyboard so I don't have to fight to see the keys! The light shines threw the keys.. you can have them Blue, Red or.. TADAH, Purple.. OMG guess what color I have it set on!! Hee hee!!
I got Pjs and lotion.. little wooden boxes, a Silver embossed box and gift certs. There was no room to move in the house. I was nested on the couch and could not move by the end of the night.

For those keeping track. I was depressed Christmas eve morning. Cried a bit. I know its dumb and a waste of energy but, I miss my mom. She died 17 years ago and every Christmas I miss her something horrible. Merry Christmas Mommy, wherever you are. Wish I could get past it but I think just accepting it is all I can hope for.
But, the Grandkids showing up fixed everything! So its all good.
Hope you all had a Wonderful Holiday.
Next big thing is my 33rd wedding Anniversary on New Years Eve. WHAT? You didn't know all the noise and Fireworks were for my Anniversary.. Tsk! Where have you been...LOL

Shopping

I'm done....I refuse to do more. Today I zone.. play games..and wrap presents.
I always seem to reach Christmas morning, worn out and over stressed. With the attitude that I should just smile and suck it up because it will all be over in a couple hours and I can relax again. I get the Christmas Blues.
What happened to "OH GOODIE, its Christmas morning!" Sigh!
Well hope you have a lovely Christmas. Who knows..maybe I'll have a good time, too? Stranger things have happened.

Power Outages

Global warming...my ass!! Thursday evening one of the worst windstorms we've had in more then 10 years hit. BLAM...zzzzzt!! Blue flashes.
Marshall has a lovely view of the local Substation. He tells us that it was the 4th of July. Worth the Rent..lol!! What a show. But, he only lost power for the night. We have been out for 2 days.
Luckily we have a woodstove and Bill and I both know how to live without power. I lived 4 years in Hawaii. In the back country during the late 60s early 70s. Most of the houses I lived in(moved around alot) had no power and if we were lucky had their own water supply (not always). I know how to build a fire.. I know how to cook most anything on a fire, woodstove or, Hell, I've even cooked over candles! So no biggie.
My brother, Mike's, power is still out. Poor guy is freezing(all electric apartment) and needs an oxygen breathing set up to sleep. We thawed him out and told him, yes, he can stay over night. He just ran home to get some supplies and is going to settle down in the Girly room again. Hee hee!! Oh yes, there is SNOW in the weather forecast.
I was just beginning to have Internet withdrawals! Ooo and I got assigned my spin to knit "secret pal"-Welcome to my world Rebecca. Mwhahahahahaha.. giggle!! Wonder if she likes Pink? Just kidding.
Anyone from the local yarn shop can tell you, I've aquired massive amounts of sheepy goodness in the form of FREE fleeces. I have received 4 this year alone.. one thrown away by the processer (buggies) and one..ahem.. LOST??? On its way back to me 6 weeks ago. It could still turn up but her stuff usually only takes 2 or 3 days. Can you imagine some poor guy getting that package by mistake .. trying to #1 figure out what it is and #2 why anyone would have it mailed to them..lol. That still means I have 2 from this year! 1 from last year and several I've bought or been gifted. Fiber actually plucks at my sleeve as I pass it.. whispering, "Buy me!"
Anyway.. thats my update. One good thing out of this power outage is that I finished all my Christmas knitting. Now I can start spinning again!!! Wheee haaa!!!

Another day in Snowville

So, what the heck is this picture of? Why, I did mention I play Final Fantasy XI online, yes? This is my latest baby. I've raised 3 chocobos (what the giant chicken is called) so far and they were all Yellow as butter but this one, OMG, is GREEN as grass. Her name is RoseWild. The cat girl sitting on her back is my character Pixx. I'm such a proud parent. LOL. In the game..this is a huge deal.

Its 19 degrees this morning and more snow on the way tonight. I'm knitting till my hands hurt and doing misc. housework but mostly I've been playing Final Fantasy. What else is there..and at least we have power .... XXX fingers crossed.

Oh I did venture out. I have a 4x4. I just slapped it in low range and went to the Vet. My cat (Mystic, known as Mitzie) is having a problem with her skin. She's allergic to fleas and anything to do with them. Its so cold you wouldn't think this a problem but evidently it is. So off to the vet to get some Frontline and back home.. round trip about 4 miles. Car made horrible noises going into low range but other than that it was ok. Solid sheet of Ice out there. Not one bare street. Bill tells me the freeway isn't bad but I heard that people coming home from the SeaHawks game were stuck on the freeway 8 hours or more.

My brother couldn't get home on Monday so spent the night in my Girly knitting/spinning room. Poor guy..lol.

Its SNOWING, AGAIN!

Picture of one of the trees in the front yard. The one I joke all the time should be cut down and brought into the house for a Christmas tree. Its getting to big now.
I found myself humming Christmas songs while I cooked dinner last night. I'm in trouble, deep!!!

Its Snowing!!!!

Time to knit Socks and Mittens!! These are my Grandkids.. Eryka 10, Trysten 4, Jayda almost 3. Wonder what baby Bryce thought of the snow.
We can see what My son Wyatt thought!!

My New Shelves

See what my lovely husband built me!! I've been promising pictures of the new shelves he built for my spinning/ knitting/ guest room. I needed a place "not on the dresser" to keep my pretties and my pictures. All of my Fairies and girly bits were getting broken on the dresser. Much happier in thier own space. The Pictures were scattered all over the house. Its amazing how many pictures I have of Eryka!! Mostly pre-school pictures.
He routered the edges and rounded the corners off. So no putting out an eye. The balusters he turned from dowels on his Lathe and with the jigsaw he made the brackets with the hearts in them ,that I loved so much.
Now I have no excuse for having a mess of stuff on the dresser!

Turkey Day

Jerico and Baby Bryce on the floor. On the couch are Wyatt, Jyll and Trysten. The Table is Marshalls pride and joy.. He worked all summer on it just so he could Host Thanksgiving at his house. Lol.. today you are a man..my son :P
To much food. The table and all the counters were full with stuff. We watched Ice age 2 and the Da Vinci code. Passed out on floors and couches and stayed to long. I think it was a success!
Oh yeah, Bill made THE Turkey in an outdoor roaster/smoker that he built. It was awesome!!

New Projects

I asked my" talented husband" to build some shelves on a blank wall in my spinning/knitting room/guest room. I was thinking country cottage style, rounded corners, frilly brackets all painted white. The room is TOOO blue. I was also thinking that with rounded corners I was less likely to run my face into them...graceful ballerina that I am... pfft!
When I got home from knitting at Village Yarn and Tea he had the shelves all done and some stiles worked on the lathe. But, no brackets..cutsy isn't his thing. He asked me to draw out one and my brain .. tripped and face planted. So, I looked online..hee hee. This is a pic of a bracket I found. I wanted hearts.
As I said, I spent a lovely day at Village yarn and tea. When I got there Ginger was sitting there minding her own business. I plopped my behind down in the chair next to her...waiting for Terri. Next came Rebecca and Sandy to work on the Masters knitting thingie. Terri came and the party really got rolling. I've never seen so many people working on SOCKS in one spot. It must be the cold wet weather. Saw several people I hadn't seen in awhile and one or two new people. I had a wonderful time. The tea wasn't bad either! lol
On Wyatt and Jylls flooding...sigh...they have managed to haul 3 loads to the dump. How sad is that. They hadn't unpacked all the boxes from moving yet so there was still alot in the garage to be ruined. Well at least the Red Cross gave them vouchers that paid for the dumping. Now they have to try to clean up the mud. With horse pastures behind them and septic tanks all around its going to be a tough job. All those nasty germs. Hope they bought a couple bottles of bleach. I don't envy them the job. But, it looks like they have it under control. I have to keep reminding myself they are grown ups and don't need mommy and daddy interfering. Its hard...believe me!

Birthday Presents

Hee hee.. Marshall got me an MP3 player. Like this one but white. I'm gonna have alot of fun with that.
Bill took me to breakfast/lunch and then we went to buy wood to make the new shelves for my yarn room.

Otherwise the day was pretty tense. Wyatt and Jylls new house is only just a little ways of the Stillaguamish river..south fork. The Rescue people came by yesterday morning and told them to get out. The road out was already flooded so the rescue guys opened the gate to the horse pasture thats behind their property to cut across. There is a gate at the end of one of the nearby roads. Guess they stayed with Jylls mom last night. Hope they get to go home. We saw some pictures on the news that looked like the horse pasture behind their house that didn't look good. Fingers crossed.
This is the house to the left of Wyatt and Jylls. Ambers house with their new fence. W&J's house is to your left and behind. She said Ambers house got more water then thiers did.
About 2 ft of water in thier garage...which had alot of boxes, toys and a GUYS area with sofas and TV etc. Which is all trashed now.

When I first looked at this picture I thought it might be the vcr and a cement wall but NO..its the vcr and my old Love seat. Sigh! What a mess. Sigh

Its a Birthday

No biggie, My Birthday is Monday. My friend Lili Pintea-Reed sent me some lovely Llama yarn. I'm plying it with some superfine Merino. Its very soft but its falling apart. I can see this in a lovely lace scarf.
Projects (other then the Llama) is a blanket made up of Grannie Squares from some yarn Liza Della Valentina dyed as a b-day gift a couple years ago. Been waiting for just the right Project. I've also made 2 hats from Noro Silk garden in a Lily Chin pattern. I've made several of these hats and only have 1 hidden away for myself.
Thinking of making the lace socks.. which I've only done the leg on so far..into fingerless gloves. What do you think? I'm still thinking about it.
Just contacted the designer of "Here there be Dragons" Shawl pattern. I've been in love with this for awhile. Its about time I ordered it.

Just finished a book called "The Doomsday Book" by Connie Willis. Deb of Village yarn and Tea insisted I read it. I must say.....I read it in 11 hours. I could NOT put it down. Now I have a headache and need to decompress for a couple days..lol

Halloween revisited

Ok, ok, One more cute grandkid picture. Left to right are Jayda, Trysten and Bryce.

Update on Marshalls table

I'll get a pic of it all put together but for the time being here is the table top. The lace work was to hide where the veneer had peeled many years ago. Its a nice touch.
The legs are sitting in his apartment. We were testing for size. It fits nice. Now we have to find some chairs..before Thanksgiving. He wants to be the Host this year. Should be interesting.

Halloween Kids

Wyatt, Jyll and the kids came by on Sunday in Costume..well the kids were in costume. Except baby Bryce. Putting up this cute picture until his mom can take one of him in his costume.
I think I'll keep all the pictures of Jayda stuffing her face or with jelly smeared on her cheeks for her boyfriends when she grows up. Lol ..Joking. She's such a sweet lil girl it doesn't really matter. Trystens fav. thing right now is .. guess what..Power Rangers. LOL.
And yes.. thats my messy living room/fireplace.

Pictures at LAST

So, I finally got some pictures taken. These are taken on my Stairs landing with my Favorite picture (framed poster) call the Accolade.
These are all my projects for the last 6 months or so. The ones I still have at any rate. I thought I'd be smart and put make up on. One was so Halloween scary witch that I cut my head off..on purpose. Didn't want any screaming babies on my conscience.
#1 is the Purple Fillet crochet cardigan I made from the yarn that my Epal Sascha (in Australia) sent me last year. Really should have taken more pains with my make-up. I look like Liza Minelli.
#2 Is the Pink varigated yarn I spun from fiber I bought from Village Yarn and Tea..my favorite hang out.
#3 Is the Shrug made of Calmer (cotton) that I just love (that had the witch face, me..cut off)

New Pretty

See the pretty I found on Ebay. It will be on a necklace in the near future. I've ordered some tiny frog beads.

Knitting/Crochet....2 more rows on the purple fishnet sweater. Then its just sewing it together and fine tuning the length etc. Pictures when finished.

Socks are parked for the time being. I'm tired of working on them. I am almost at the heel so maybe I will finish them yet!

The weather has turned cold and I've decided to make a felted coat out of the white and black fleeces I just got back from Dawns.
I've had the pattern laying around for Years!

Wait, and theres more!!

So, Marshall is afraid to take his car home. He leaves it here at our house. Next day we got up and get an alarm system installed. He's feeling a bit safer. You could feel the tension unknot.
I go to my good friend Cynthia baby shower.. wow what a huge deal that was. Loads of fun.. but I get this feeling that all is not ok at home.
When I arrived home, all is quiet. Whew, maybe I'm PMSing and over-reacting!! So
Q-honey, how are things?
A- Fiiine (don't like how he said that).
Q- Did you hear from Marshall (thinking Yahoo IM)
A-mmm, well, I didn't wanna tell you till morning but somebody hit him and crunched the OTHER fender. Did I mention the guy who stole his car crashed threw a road sign and crunched the passenger fender (one of the ones we just replaced??)
CRAP.... whats next? That makes 3 tell me its over now? I'm praying the guy who HIT HIM doesn't try to say it was the other way around and sue his ass! If I look blue in the face this week its because I'm holding my breath waiting for the Coup de Grace ( or the killing blow).

Thursday, October 12, 2006

Wow, what a week

Just a quick catch up. Still working on the SAME socks. I had to rip them back a long way.
Was my hubbys Birthday this week.. so he stayed home several days.

Yesterday, Marshall's car was stolen..he only found out because we bitched him into coming over and working on his dining table which is almost done..pictures later this week..I promise.

But, the police found his car. They gave him the address and told him to go get it. When he and his dad went to get it....it was gone. We figured the Thief saw the Police and ditched the car in some forest or lake but no.. someone towed it. We didn't find out till evening when the place was closed! I'm not going to complain about the police. They probably had more pressing things then some kids car. He called the towing co.. just as they closed. We know it has fender damage. The one they just replaced after the accident. Sigh. I bet the door and/or the ignition are punched. I'm thinking that car needs to be Feng Sui'd or an Exorcist!! I still can't believe anyone stole it in the first place.......weren't there any crappier cars in the lot? Its just all to Surreal.

Anyway.. spinning night at Village Yarn and Tea tonight.. Yipeee and a baby shower for my friend Cynthia tomorrow. She's gonna pop next month. I'm sure she can hardly wait! Been a long difficult Pregnancy.

Eryka hits the Bigtime!

This is my oldest grand-daughter, The Divine Miss E (or Eryka). She made it into Chorus..Yipee!! She always did like to annoy all of us with..."I feel like a Woman" when she was 3 or 4..lol.
I also hear she's running for class president. Fingers Crossed!!
Its not knitting but I had to share.

Friday, September 29, 2006

The Last Knit. I never laughed so hard!!

Catching up

Haven't knit much lately. Been cleaning...my spring and fall seem to be confused. So, Fall cleaning it is.
Spent some time making Oriface hooks for friends and my own spinning wheels. I have an over abundance of beads..about 10 cases full (big cases). So, while I was cleaning that part of the room I had to stop and use some of them ..lol I'll try to get a pic of at least one to post later today.. check back.

Not such a Disaster

Purple yarn made itself into a Big felted yarn bag. Disaster past.. all is.. ok.. in the world for the moment.

Monday, September 11, 2006

The Purple hand of Fate

Not the best picture but you can see..after all the Drama.. I got some fairly decent looking yarn. Colors range from pale blue threw Purple to almost navy. Its really more purple then the picture shows.

The Purple came out of my hands but *ahem* not my feet...yet.

Luckily Mitzie stayed upstairs..the yard dried. Hopefully, the Nightmare is over.

Unless it Rains...it is Washington!

Great Wise Woman....Adventures in Dyeing

You all, no doubt, know I'm the most brilliant person in the Universe..right? Aliens come to ask me questions as if I'm a great Wise woman ...right?
Then, good reader, why are my hands PURPLE?
Could it be..maybe..that I don't know JACK about dyeing yarn?
Yup, I think thats it. Not only are my hands (slightly) purple but a good portion of my front yard and the table that I used.
I ,very carefully, covered the table with sheet upon sheet of cling wrap..overlapping carefully. Laid out my 8 skeins of yarn which had been soaked in vinegar water. I put my rubber gloves on (dr. kind) and proceeded to dye my yarn Purple and Teal (why is it Grey??). Ok that went alright but where everything went horribly wrong was as I finished dyeing. The liguid started leaking out of my carefully folded joinings. All over the ground...panic set in. I ran and got several large ziplocks and thrust the offending yarns in them.. rinsed the bags so no dripping threw the house. Nuked them in the Microwave for 3 min each..only one exploded. Sigh.....Need I continue? Oh, you ask, how did I get purple hands? The gloves ruptured somewhere along the way and filled with dye.
At this writing ..my WHITE cat is upstairs sleeping and the black one I'm not to worried about. But, can you Imagine if Mitzie (the white one) decides she has to pee? Walks across the grass in the front yard and aquires a new name..something like Plum or Purp ..lol..maybe I should close the doors!! EGAD.
The moral....is........Use thick gloves, dye one or two skeins at a time..not 8. Don't wear anything you wanna ever wear again..and black shoes. At least I lost the white shoes first thing..being a wise woman, I did see that possiblity occuring.
So, now, in my wisdom.....I have learned a valueable lesson. And, taught one as well. Hopefully, you learned from my mistakes. If so..my work is done.
My Purple and mmm greyish yarn is now drying in the front yard. Frightening the Neighbors and the birds as well..no doubt.

Oh, there it is!

HERE they are!! Someone gave me this site weeks ago but I didn't see the stockings! Aren't they fabulous?
Then someone else gave me the same link...thanks...so I looked around. This site ,Vintage Stitch O'rama, is a real find if you like vintage knitting and Crochet. I found a dozen things I'd like to make.
I have gotta make these!

Spinning Spinning Spinning

I did finish the "not so ugly shrug" out of my pink homespun. I used two buttons instead of making it a tie front. I don't need that extra bulk up front..lol
Now, I'm working on something similar out of the Purple yarn that Sascha sent me last Christmas. Something, crocheted filet but not quite sure what it is yet..just along the lines of the shrug but longer with longer sleeves. Thats the beauty of Crochet..it can grow as you go!
To say I've been spinning alot is an understatement. I have 6 fleeces and a ton of other fiber to spin. I need to get with it. Martha's wool is white and springy and lovely to spin long draw. I've done 6 huge fluffy skeins so far. Martha is the sheeps name. The black is named Beauty. Haven't done much with it yet.
A friend is sending me another fleece she found when she was moving. She already gave me one!! I've got an abundance of Riches. People may expect sweaters this year or next.. thats for damn sure!!
